My resume is available in
PDF format. History
 I
attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI)
in Troy, NY, where I studied computer programming, industrial psychology
& management.
 |
During my studies, I completed two "co-op"
assignments at IBM in Boca Raton, Florida. It was during those
assignments that I learned about Human Factors Engineering or Usability
Engineering. |
A human factors or usability engineer is someone who designs things to be
easy to use. Specifically, I design the user interface for software to make it
user friendly. I'm concerned about the layout of things in a window, the colors,
the wording, how long it takes for a user to accomplish a task using the
program, how many mistakes they make, how easy is it to learn and remember, and
how well they like using the software.
 In
June, 1986, I graduated from RPI and was hired
by Lachman Associates - a consulting firm in Naperville, Illinois. My first
assignment was at AT&T Bell Labs in Columbus, OH. After consulting for the
Labs in Columbus for 3 years I was hired by them as a Member of Technical Staff
(MTS).
|

|

In 1996, Bell Labs spun off from AT&T to become Lucent
Technologies. In 1997 I was appointed Distinguished Member of
Technical Staff (DMTS) and worked in the Advanced Technologies Lab within
Bell Labs. I was responsible for the design of applications running in a
web browser, or "weblications," for nearly 40 Lucent products. In
2000, I was promoted to Technical Manager and moved to the Billing and
Customer Care (B&CC) group within the Switching division. This group
was created when Lucent purchased Kenan Systems. My team, the User
Experience Group, is a multi-disciplinary team responsible for designing
compelling user experiences. In the spring of 2001, Lucent announced
their intentions to sell B&CC. |
|

|
On Saturday, December 29, 2002, CSG Systems,
Inc. announced the
acquisition of B&CC.
CSG provides customer care and billing services worldwide for the
converging communications market, including cable television, direct broadcast
satellite, telephony, online services and more. CSG offers a full range of
software and support services that automate customer management functions and
increase operational efficiencies.
On July 31, 2002, CSG Systems announced the cancellation of our
project, WebCare, as part of an effort to align development resources with
market needs. To help the WebCare team keep in touch, we formed a Yahoo!
group.

On Tuesday, October 1, 2002, I accepted the position of
Chief Technical Officer (CTO) and Director of Operations at Delphia
Consulting. Delphia Consulting, a Microsoft Certified Partner, is
in the business of helping mid-sized organizations improve
the way they manage critical areas of their firm including: human
resources and payroll; customer relationship management; budgeting and
forecasting; and professional services.
As CTO, it's my responsibility to use technology to provide better
products and services to clients, manage Delphia's
infrastructure and IT operations, develop and maintain software
applications (.NET web based applications), determine how technology will
be used to implement the business strategy, and develop the company's
future technology direction.
As Director of Operations my goal is to understand, document, define,
and improve Delphia
Consulting's processes.
I also have the opportunity to expand the business and develop a
Usability/Human Factors Practice. I'll be able to consult with clients and
also help place Human Factors Specialists, UI Designers, Visual Designers, User
Assistance Architects, and Prototypers on client projects. |
